Nasarawa APC Chieftain Calls for Fairness in 2027 Elections

Muhammad Bello Yakub, the former chairman of the Progress Congress APC in Keffi Local Government Area, Nasarawa State, has called for a level playing field for all aspirants in the 2027 general elections. In a statement made in Lafia, he expressed concern over the current situation within the state chapter of the APC and solicited intervention from President Bola Tinubu to ensure inclusivity and promote internal democracy.

Yakub highlighted the discouragement of participation due to the early endorsement of a single governorship aspirant, Ahmad Wadada, by the current governor, Abdullahi Sule, which he believes weakens party unity. He warned that if these issues are not urgently addressed, the party may face significant setbacks similar to those experienced in the 2023 elections, where they lost the presidential vote and several legislative seats.

Yakub criticized the lack of adequate consultation with traditional rulers and stakeholders in the decision-making process, emphasizing the need for inclusivity.
