Nasarawa Residents Protest, Burn Gov Sule's Campaign Posters

On June 4, 2026, residents of Kofan Kaura in Lafia Local Government Area, Nasarawa State, burned campaign posters of Governor Abdullahi Sule, who is seeking the Nasarawa North senatorial seat in the 2027 elections. The protesters, visibly angry, rejected what they termed electoral rigging and imposition by the All Progressives Congress (APC).

A video captured the incident, showing residents burning the party's broom symbol and flags. Governor Sule had previously stated his intention to serve a second and final term, having won the APC senatorial primary election with 47,393 votes, defeating his rival Sila Agara, who received 2,915 votes.

The protests reflect growing discontent among the populace regarding the electoral process in the region.
