FG Orders Expulsion of Students Involved in Kidnapping

The Federal Government of Nigeria has directed vice-chancellors, rectors, and provosts to expel any student found guilty of involvement in kidnapping or violent crimes after proper investigation. This directive was issued by the Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, during a meeting with the Governing Council and management of the Federal University of Lafia, Nasarawa State, on Tuesday.

The meeting, led by Pro-Chancellor Lola Akande, addressed concerns regarding student involvement in off-campus kidnapping. Alausa stressed that institutions must not harbor criminal elements and that any student found culpable must be dismissed.

He highlighted the importance of strengthening internal intelligence networks and collaborating with the Department of State Services and other security agencies to prevent criminal activities. Alausa also mentioned a recent meeting with Minister of Defence Gen.

Christopher Musa (retd.) to enhance the Safe Schools Initiative and reiterated President Bola Tinubu's directive against negotiating with kidnappers.
