Kaduna Students Trained to Promote Peace and Citizenship

A one-day peace parley was organized for secondary school students in Kaduna State by the National Library of Nigeria, Kaduna branch, in collaboration with the Conflict Management and Social Development Initiative (CMSDI). The event aimed to train students on peace building and responsible citizenship to discourage political thuggery and promote peaceful elections.

Mrs. Martina Egwuibe, assistant director and head of the National Library, emphasized the importance of early education in preventing youth manipulation by politicians during elections.

She stated that participants would act as ambassadors of peace in their schools and communities. Abdulhakeem Mustafa, founder and president of CMSDI, highlighted the program's goal of educating students to reject hate speech and violence, with plans to establish peace clubs for ongoing efforts.

Alhaji Bala Muhammad Tijjani, the district head of Kaduna Doka, described the initiative as timely, noting that early peace education is crucial for developing responsible citizens.
