Obi Promises Ethnicity-Free Campaign for 2027 Elections

Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), held a world press conference at his home in Onitsha, Anambra State, where he outlined his campaign strategy for the 2027 general election. He pledged to run a campaign that is devoid of ethnicity and religion, urging Nigerians to engage in a national conversation about the candidates' records and proposals.

Obi highlighted the critical state of Nigeria, noting that over 140 million Nigerians live at or below the national poverty line, with 35 million expected to need food assistance during the 2026 lean season. He emphasized the importance of addressing issues such as weak infrastructure, insecurity, and the high cost of doing business.

Obi called for a respectful debate of ideas and urged Nigerians to reject campaigns driven by propaganda and division. He expressed confidence in Nigeria's potential, stating that the country's diversity is an economic strength that should be harnessed to benefit all regions.
