Peter Obi Unveils 2027 Agenda, Vows to Combat Insecurity

Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), unveiled his governance agenda for the 2027 presidential election during a two-hour interview on the national television program Sunday Politics. He pledged to personally lead the fight against insecurity, emphasizing the need for visible leadership and direct involvement in troubled communities.

Obi criticized the current security approach and promised to ensure that security agencies receive adequate resources. He identified poverty as a significant driver of insecurity and stressed the importance of investments in education and job creation.

On economic policy, Obi proposed shifting from a consumption-driven model to a production-based economy focused on agriculture, manufacturing, and support for small businesses. He committed to serving only one four-year term if elected, stating that this period would be sufficient to place Nigeria on a sustainable development path and restore citizens' confidence in government.
