Obidient Movement Accuses APC of Blocking Obi's Bid

The Obidient Movement, represented by its national coordinator Yunusa Tanko, has publicly accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of plotting to block Peter Obi’s presidential bid for the January 2027 elections. During a press conference in Kano on Saturday, Tanko claimed that the APC is orchestrating efforts to undermine Obi's political platform, which began during the 2023 elections.

He alleged that the APC's actions are intended to fuel internal disputes within the Labour Party, thereby weakening Obi's political base. Despite a Supreme Court ruling in April 2025 affirming the Labour Party's leadership, subsequent lower court actions have allegedly undermined this judgment.

The movement noted that Obi is expected to exit the Labour Party by December 31, 2025, due to prolonged internal crises and may align with the African Democratic Congress (ADC). Tanko linked recent developments, including the delisting of ADC leadership following an appeal court ruling, to attempts to weaken opposition forces.

The movement urged stakeholders, particularly youth and women, to remain vigilant and committed to democratic values ahead of the 2027 elections.
