Obi's Youth Support May Secure 2027 Election Victory

Sam Amadi, the Director of the Abuja School of Social and Political Thoughts, expressed that the electoral landscape and increasing support from youth for Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), could provide him an edge over President Bola Tinubu and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar in the upcoming 2027 general elections. In an interview with Symfoni TV, Amadi noted that the political conditions that benefited Tinubu in the 2023 elections have shifted, while Obi continues to gain significant traction, especially among young Nigerians seeking a break from traditional politics.

He pointed out that Obi had a strong showing in the 2023 elections, claiming he won in several states, including Rivers and Plateau, but was not declared the winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Amadi asserted that had the election been free and fair, Obi would have likely become President.

His comments come as political parties gear up for the 2027 elections, with candidates working to solidify support across Nigeria's geopolitical zones.
