Obidients Confident in Obi's 2027 Northern Nigeria Prospects

Supporters of Peter Obi, including the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) and the Obidient Movement, are optimistic about his chances in the 2027 elections, particularly in Northern Nigeria. They dismissed claims from northern political figures, such as former Borno State governor Ali Modu Sheriff and former APC chairman Dr.

Abdullahi Ganduje, who suggested that an Obi-Kwankwaso ticket would struggle in the region. Abdulmumin Abdulsalam, Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the NDC, stated that northern voters would prioritize economic and security issues over ethnic or religious sentiments.

He emphasized that the political landscape has evolved, and the electorate would not be swayed by mere criticisms. Abdulsalam announced plans for a northern mobilization strategy and engagement with various groups ahead of the elections.

Dr. Yunusa Tanko, National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement Worldwide, noted that they are addressing shortcomings from the 2023 election and expanding grassroots efforts across the North.
