Opposition May Unite for Single Candidate Against Tinubu

Abdullahi, a leader of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), disclosed that the opposition may produce a single presidential candidate to face President Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 elections. In an interview on Wednesday, he acknowledged that the ADC's exit from the coalition is not a fatal blow to ongoing efforts to unify the opposition against the incumbent.

Abdullahi noted that despite this development, there is still a focus on forming a broad coalition to remove Tinubu from power. He emphasized the importance of producing a single candidate capable of leading the opposition, particularly in light of the controversial issue of zoning the presidential ticket.

Abdullahi's primary goal for the ADC is to win the elections by adopting a strategic approach. He also mentioned that there are no prior indications of dissatisfaction within the ADC regarding the exit of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar or Peter Obi.
