ADC's Strategy to Challenge Tinubu in 2027 Elections

David Itopa, the Deputy National Welfare Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), expressed confidence in the party's ability to defeat President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general elections. In an interview, Itopa highlighted the growing dissatisfaction among Nigerians with Tinubu's administration, citing worsening economic conditions, rising insecurity, and a disconnect between the government and citizens.

He noted that while there have been some security gains, such as military successes in the northeast, these do not overshadow the broader security concerns affecting the nation. Itopa emphasized that the ADC aims to present a better alternative to the current administration and is focused on strengthening its structure ahead of the elections.

He also raised concerns about the electoral process, particularly regarding the handling of electronic transmission of results, which he believes is crucial for public trust. Itopa urged citizens to remain patient and committed despite economic challenges, asserting that the ADC is prepared to address complaints from party members and support aspirants.
