Oyo APC Members Demand Adherence to Rotation Agreement

On Tuesday, members of the Oyo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) staged a peaceful protest at the party's secretariat in Ibadan, demanding adherence to an existing rotation arrangement for the 2027 elections. The protesters carried placards with messages such as "No going back on Akinyeli's turn" and urged party leadership to respect the zoning agreement.

Key figures in the protest, including Abdul Akeem Mosafejo, Fausat Ajibad, and Taofeek Kasali, called on the APC State Executive Council to intervene urgently, expressing concerns over alleged plans to impose candidates contrary to the long-standing rotation principle. They emphasized that failure to uphold this arrangement could jeopardize the party's chances in the upcoming elections.

The protest highlighted the importance of maintaining trust and grassroots support within the party. In response, Olawal Sadar, representing the APC, urged members to remain calm and assured that grievances would be addressed.

Aspirants, including Akinyeli, reiterated their demand for adherence to the rotation principle in a letter to the state APC chairman, Mose Adeyemo.
