Oyo Elders Call for Peaceful Campaigns Ahead of 2027 Elections

On Tuesday, the Oke-Ogun Council of Elders (OCE) in Oyo State convened at the residence of their leader, Dada Bamidele, a former Minister of State for Agriculture and Water Resources, to discuss the region's development and security. In a communiqué signed by Jare Ajayi, Remi Adegbola, and Sola Ailako, the council emphasized the importance of peaceful electoral campaigns ahead of the 2027 elections.

They commended efforts by retired Brig Gen Kunle Togun, Primate Samson Ojoawo, and Sunday Adeyemo a.k.a Igboho for enhancing regional security. The council also expressed gratitude to the Federal and Oyo State Governments for the successful rescue of abductees in Oriire Local Government.

They called for continued investment in education and skills development and reaffirmed the aspiration of Oke-Ogun people to produce a governor for the state. The OCE plans to engage political aspirants to discuss their commitments to the region's development and has developed an Oke-Ogun Development Blueprint (2025-2035) to guide future initiatives.
