Ogun State Commits to Peaceful 2027 Election Campaigns

The Ogun State Government has committed to sustaining a peaceful political environment in preparation for the 2027 general elections. Hon. Kayode Akinmade, the Special Adviser to Governor Dapo Abiodun on Information and Strategy, assured political parties and candidates of their freedom to campaign without intimidation during a live radio program in Abeokuta.

Akinmade stated that the administration is dedicated to ensuring that political activities are conducted peacefully and legally, contrasting the tensions of the 2019 elections. He mentioned that the government has created an atmosphere for opposition parties to operate freely, with compliance to established procedures for displaying campaign materials.

Akinmade warned against any actions that could incite violence and urged political parties to focus on issue-based campaigns rather than resorting to thuggery or misinformation. He called for collective responsibility among all stakeholders, including security agencies and civil society, to ensure the peaceful conduct of elections.
