PDP Names Mustapha Sule Lamido as Sole Aspirant for 2027

Mustapha Sule Lamido has been confirmed as the sole governorship aspirant for the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in Jigawa State for the upcoming 2027 governorship elections. The screening process took place in Abuja on May 21, 2023, where Lamido successfully passed the PDP's screening committee.

His candidacy is positioned against the current governor, Umar Namadi, of the All Progressives Congress (APC). Lamido expressed optimism about the PDP's performance in the 2027 elections, citing a need for meaningful change in the state's political system and improved welfare for the people.

He raised concerns about the growing trend of defections among politicians, which he believes reflects a lack of ideological commitment. Lamido emphasized the PDP's strong ideological foundation and its capability to meet the expectations of ordinary Nigerians, having secured 400,000 votes in the last election.
