2027: PDP not dead, will offer better option for Nigerians — Makinde

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde asserted that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is not dead and will offer a better option for Nigerians in the 2027 general election. Speaking at the PDP Southern Zoning Consultative Summit in Lagos, Makinde aimed to unite stakeholders within the party for future contests.

The summit included prominent figures like Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri and former Akwa Ibom Governor Emmanuel Udom. Makinde dismissed criticism from another group of PDP leaders who disowned the Lagos meeting, emphasizing the consultative nature of the summit.

He highlighted the importance of internal democracy and preparing the PDP to reclaim its place in national politics. The summit also discussed zoning for the 2027 presidential candidate, emphasizing the need for unity within the party.

Makinde concluded by stating that efforts are focused on uniting the PDP and providing a credible alternative for Nigerians.
