2027: Jonathan, Makinde, Others May Join Race as PDP Set to Unveil Zoning Formula

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is set to unveil a zoning formula for the 2027 general elections, potentially leading to a competitive presidential primary. The party's timetable, signed by the National Organising Secretary Umar Bature, indicates that the program will run from August 24 to December 2025, with a national convention scheduled for November in Ibadan, Oyo State.

The Bayelsa State governor, Duoye Diri, is expected to present the zoning committee's recommendations for ratification by the National Executive Committee. Speculation is rife about possible presidential bids from former President Goodluck Jonathan, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, and Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed.

The party aims to reclaim power in 2027, with former national vice chairman Eddy Olafeso emphasizing the PDP's commitment to delivering solutions for the country.
