Wike Confident PDP Will Participate in 2027 Elections

Nyesom Wike, the former governor of Rivers State, stated that the People's Democratic Party (PDP) will be on the ballot for the 2027 general elections, dismissing speculation regarding the party's relevance. Speaking during a media parley on Friday, Wike highlighted that although the PDP did not produce a president in 2015, it remains active and plays a significant role at various levels of government.

He stressed the importance of strengthening the party's structure at the sub-national level rather than focusing solely on the presidential election. Wike cautioned against presenting presidential candidates without adequate preparation and emphasized that winning the presidency requires emotional and psychological readiness.

He also warned that the PDP faces internal challenges, particularly with rival factions linked to him, which could affect the party's unity ahead of the 2027 elections.
