PDP Schedules 2027 Presidential Primaries for May 2026

The People's Democratic Party (PDP) has announced the dates for its presidential and governorship primaries ahead of the 2027 general elections, following a decision made during its 106th meeting held in Abuja. According to a communiqué issued at the end of the meeting, the presidential primary is scheduled for May 23, 2026.

Other key dates include the state house assembly primaries on May 2, 2026, and the national assembly primaries on May 9, 2026. The PDP's National Executive Committee (NEC) noted that the schedule aligns with the timelines released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and complies with the provisions of the Electoral Act 2026.

The committee urged party stakeholders nationwide to begin preparations in adherence to the approved timeline. The meeting was attended by prominent party leaders, including Nyesom Wike, former governors Samuel Ortom and Ifeanyi Ikpeazu, and Mao Ohuabunwa.

The PDP also condemned recent incidents during congresses in Oyo State and called for investigations.
