Ogun Disability Group Vows Unity, Partners with INEC

Mr. Ayo Awobona was elected as the chairman of the Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities (JONAPWD) in Ogun State.

He pledged to prioritize unity among persons with disabilities and described the foundation's achievements in advancing the rights of its members across the state. Speaking to journalists in Abeokuta shortly after his election, Awobona expressed the need for reconciliation among different groups within the association and emphasized strengthening collaboration with government agencies, the private sector, and society at large.

He stated that unity is essential for achieving their goals and mentioned plans to work closely with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to increase voter registration and participation among members. Awobona commended INEC for its efforts to facilitate electoral processes for persons with disabilities and announced plans to organize decentralized voter card registration exercises in local government areas to ensure greater accessibility.
