Peter Obi Promises No Retaliation Against Opponents

Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the New Democratic Congress for the 2027 general elections, declared that he has no intention of using the powers of the presidency to target political opponents if he wins. In an interview, Obi addressed his relationship with Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, clarifying that there are no personal grievances between them.

He dismissed claims that he would seek revenge against those who opposed him, stating that a president focused on settling scores would fail in governance. Obi expressed that politicians should be free to align with whichever group they believe is better for them and wished them well.

He articulated his goal of responsible and lawful governance, emphasizing that Nigerians deserve a government that understands their struggles rather than one preoccupied with internal conflicts. Additionally, he corrected a misinterpretation regarding Wike's health, which arose from a comment he made about Wike appearing happier during their collaboration.
