Peter Obi Leaves ADC, Eyes Alliance for 2027 Elections

Peter Obi, a prominent political figure and former presidential candidate, has officially left the African Democratic Congress (ADC), citing a toxic political environment and increasing internal crises as the reasons for his departure. Obi, who began his political career in 2003 with the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and served as Anambra State governor from 2005 to 2014, later joined the People's Democratic Party (PDP) and ran as Atiku Abubakar's running mate in the 2019 elections.

After losing to Muhammadu Buhari, he transitioned to the Labour Party (LP) for the 2023 presidential elections, where he again faced defeat against Bola Tinubu. Obi's exit from the ADC is not driven by personal grievances against party leaders like David Mark or Atiku Abubakar, whom he respects.

He expressed disappointment over the lack of solidarity within the ADC and the toxic political atmosphere that discourages sincere public service. Obi remains hopeful for Nigeria's future and is considering forming a strong alliance with former Kano State governor Ibrahim Kwankwaso for the upcoming 2027 elections.
