Vatsa Urges Bago to Choose Christian Deputy for 2027

Jonathan Vatsa, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Niger State, warned Governor Moham Umar Bago to choose a Christian running mate for the 2027 governorship election. Speaking to journalists in Minna, Vatsa emphasized that failing to do so could lead to a loss of support from the Christian community.

He expressed concerns over the recent APC primaries, where almost all candidates emerged as Muslims, which heightened worries among Christian members regarding their marginalization. Vatsa pointed out that the current political appointments in the state do not reflect fair representation, citing the leadership composition in local government.

He argued that selecting a Christian deputy would help address perceived imbalances and strengthen the APC's chances in the upcoming elections. Vatsa maintained that the 2027 elections would be driven by credible candidates and a solid party platform, urging the APC to approach the Christian community with confidence.
