Ogun Police to Host Security Workshop for 2027 Elections

The Ogun State Police Command has organized a security stakeholders’ workshop scheduled for September 22-23, 2026, in preparation for the 2027 general elections. The workshop, themed ‘Elections, Community Mobilisation, The Law and The Media,’ aims to ensure adequate participation and a credible election process.
Dr Bolu Folayan, the workshop’s Executive Consultant, stated that the training will emphasize inter-agency respect, cooperation, and community engagement before, during, and after elections. Governor Dapo Abiodun is set to declare the workshop open and deliver a keynote address, followed by a presentation from Prof Fassy Yusuf, a lawyer and public relations expert.
Folayan highlighted the importance of understanding the 1999 Constitution, Electoral Act, and Police Act, noting that many stakeholders lack knowledge in these areas, which can lead to election credibility issues. A key outcome of the workshop will be the signing of the ‘Responsive and Responsible Professionalism Charter’ by approximately 520 stakeholders, including representatives from major political parties and various security agencies.
