Police Warn Nasarawa Politicians Against Hate Speech

On Tuesday, the Nasarawa State Command of the Nigeria Police Force, represented by Commissioner Shetima Moham, issued a warning to politicians regarding hate speech and violence as the 2027 elections approach. The police cautioned that any political activities must be conducted within the law and advised political parties to obtain necessary approvals for rallies while adhering to established guidelines.

Moham emphasized the importance of mutual respect and peaceful conduct, urging politicians to refrain from actions that could incite violence or disrupt public peace. He stated that the police would not tolerate any form of politically motivated violence and that individuals or groups found instigating or participating in such acts would be identified, arrested, and prosecuted according to the law.

The police also called on the youth to resist being used as instruments of violence and highlighted their commitment to ensuring a safe environment during the election season.
