Nasarawa Police Urges Politicians to Promote Peace

The Nasarawa State Police Command, led by Commissioner of Police Mohammed Jauro, issued a strong message to political actors during a press briefing on Tuesday in Lafia. Jauro urged politicians to lead by example and promote peace and coexistence in Nasarawa State, emphasizing that the interests of the state should take precedence over personal or partisan considerations.

He called on politicians to refrain from actions or utterances that could incite violence and disrupt public peace. Jauro highlighted the importance of collective responsibility among politicians and community leaders to maintain harmony and stability in the state.

He warned that security agencies are fully prepared to ensure a safe environment for residents and that any politically motivated violence would not be tolerated. Politicians were advised to conduct their activities within the law and to seek necessary approvals for rallies, ensuring compliance with established guidelines.

The police will identify, arrest, and prosecute individuals or groups involved in instigating or sponsoring violence.
