FDP Urges Atiku, Obi, Kwankwaso to Support Tinubu

The Forum for Democratic Patriots (FDP) has called on former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi, and former Kano State Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso to abandon their presidential ambitions for the 2027 general election and support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. In a statement issued in Abuja on Friday, FDP convener Hon Sani Ibrahim noted that the ongoing discussions among opposition leaders about potential joint tickets indicate that none of them possess the necessary nationwide acceptability or political strength to defeat Tinubu.

The group highlighted Kwankwaso's suggestion for Atiku to step aside and the circulating reports of a possible Atiku-Obi ticket as evidence of disunity within the opposition. FDP praised Tinubu's administration for its economic reforms, including the unification of the foreign exchange market and tax restructuring, aimed at stabilizing the economy.

The group urged the opposition leaders to prioritize national interest and support the current administration's efforts for long-term economic recovery.
