Wike Declares Atiku Unfit for 2027 Presidential Race

Nyesom Wike, the Governor of Rivers State, asserted that Atiku Abubakar, the former Vice President of Nigeria, will not be a contender for the 2027 presidential election. Wike characterized Abubakar as a "serial opposition person" and a "loser," referencing his unsuccessful bids for the presidency in 2007, 2019, and 2023.

He emphasized that Abubakar should present his eight-year scorecard from his tenure as Vice President under former President Olusegun Obasanjo from 1999 to 2007. Wike dismissed Abubakar's criticisms of Bola Tinubu's administration, arguing that Abubakar has not achieved anything significant during his time in office.

He expressed skepticism about Abubakar's ability to make credible statements regarding governance, suggesting that Nigerians would find such claims laughable. Wike concluded that the 2027 presidential race is not available for Abubakar, indicating that he believes the former Vice President should not run again, especially at the age of 82 in 2031.
