Kalu Signals Governorship Ambitions for Abia in 2027

Kalu, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, has hinted at his intention to contest for the governorship of Abia State in the upcoming 2027 elections on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC). During a visit to Isiala Ngwa North South Local Government Area, he expressed gratitude for the support he has received and acknowledged the growing calls from various stakeholders across the state urging him to enter the race.

Kalu emphasized that he would make a formal declaration in Umuahia, where he plans to respond definitively to the increasing agitation for his candidacy. He spoke during the inauguration of the Ikeoha Movement, which is supporting Uzoma Ihuka's bid for the APC ticket for the House of Representatives seat representing Isiala Ngwa Federal Constituency.

Kalu expressed confidence in the administration of President Bola Tinubu and highlighted the APC's stability and focus on delivering development and progress, especially in Abia State. He also noted a wave of defections from opposition parties, particularly the Labour Party, into the APC, citing renewed hope for effective leadership.
