Saraki Denies 2027 Presidential Ambitions, Supports South

Bukola Saraki, the former Senate President and governor of Kwara State, publicly denied any intentions to run for the presidency in the 2027 elections. In a statement made during an interview on Thursday, Saraki articulated that it is fair to allow the Southern region of Nigeria to complete an eight-year presidential term.

He expressed his belief that the People's Democratic Party (PDP) should support this zoning arrangement, which was discussed during a party meeting last year. Saraki recalled that the final decision regarding the party's candidate for the 2023 elections was made in alignment with this zoning principle.

He reiterated his commitment to the party's decision to zone the presidency to the South for the upcoming 2027 elections, highlighting the importance of adhering to this rule in the political landscape.
