Saraki's Aide Denies Endorsement of Tinubu for 2027

An aide to Bukola Saraki, Yusuph Olaniyonu, issued a statement clarifying that Saraki did not endorse Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the 2027 presidential election, countering suggestions that Saraki's recent remarks indicated indirect support. The statement, released in Abuja, emphasized that Saraki's position is clear and should not be misinterpreted.

Saraki, a former Senate President and influential figure within the People's Democratic Party (PDP), stated that he would openly support a candidate when the time comes, without ambiguity. He reiterated that the southern region should complete its eight years in office before endorsing any individual.

The aide warned against attempts to distort Saraki's comments for political advantage and highlighted Saraki's belief that the presidency should rotate back to the north in 2031. This clarification comes amid growing political positioning ahead of the 2027 elections, with Saraki remaining a significant voice within the PDP.
