Saraki's Aide Denies Presidential Endorsement Claims

An aide to former Senate President Bukola Saraki, Yusuph Olaniyonu, clarified that Saraki did not endorse any presidential candidate for the 2027 elections. This clarification followed comments made by Demola Olanrewaju, a senior political assistant to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, who suggested that Saraki's statements during a Channel TV interview indicated an indirect endorsement of President Bola Tinubu's second term.

Saraki's interview emphasized that the country should allow the South to complete an eight-year presidency before a Northern candidate can contest in 2031. He made it clear that he would support the People's Democratic Party's (PDP) candidate when the time comes, asserting that he does not have any hidden agenda.

Saraki's comments were intended to clarify his position amidst misinterpretations and political maneuvering by others, reinforcing his belief in the need for a southern candidate in the upcoming elections.
