Obi Questions Tinubu's Control, Plans 2027 Election Strategy

On September 10, Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), expressed concerns regarding President Bola Tinubu's control over his administration during an interview with Arise TV. Obi stated that he sometimes believes Tinubu is not fully in charge of the government and urged the President to address Nigerians directly about pressing national issues.

Obi unveiled a strategy for the 2027 general elections, which includes establishing an independent result-transmission system at polling units across Nigeria. This system aims to allow Obi's campaign team to receive results directly into their situation room as votes are counted, operating alongside the official system of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

He emphasized the importance of accurate vote counting and transmission to prevent discrepancies in results announced at collation centers. Obi noted that other organizations could implement similar monitoring systems, reinforcing the need for transparency in the electoral process, citing examples from Ghana and other countries.
