PDP Awaits Court Verdict on Pantami's Gombe Ticket

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is currently awaiting a judicial verdict concerning Dr. Isa Pantami's late defection from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the PDP, where he secured the governorship ticket for Gombe State.

Pantami, a former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, defected in May, which sparked opposition from existing PDP members who preferred candidates already within the party. These stakeholders have filed a lawsuit against Pantami, and the case is pending judicial determination.

Honourable Jungudo Haruna Mohammed, the PDP's National Publicity Secretary, confirmed that aside from the Gombe situation, the party experienced largely conflict-free primaries across the states. He emphasized that the PDP's processes were transparent and fair, with no need for reconciliation committees.

The names of candidates have been submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the presidential and National Assembly elections. The court has reserved judgment on the Gombe case, with the PDP awaiting the outcome.
