Seyi Makinde Declares Presidential Ambition for 2027

On Thursday, Seyi Makinde, the Governor of Oyo State, formally declared his presidential ambition for the 2027 elections during a joint mega rally organized by the People's Democratic Party (PDP) and the Allied People's Movement (APM) in Ibadan, Oyo State. Makinde expressed deep concern over the current socio-economic conditions in Nigeria, stating that citizens are struggling daily due to deteriorating economic circumstances.

He highlighted that the country is at a critical stage requiring decisive action and a new direction. Makinde criticized the government for failing to meet citizens' needs and argued that Nigerians are pushed to their limits, living in survival mode.

He dismissed claims that opposition forces cannot unite, asserting that the opposition is not just political parties but every Nigerian who feels the country is not functioning. The alliance between PDP and APM aims to strengthen political cooperation ahead of the 2027 elections, allowing them to field candidates at various levels, including the presidency and state assemblies.
