Tinubu Seeks Presidential Candidacy Across Multiple Parties

Adebayo Alabi, the spokesperson for the Social Democratic Party (SDP), announced that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is seeking to be the sole presidential candidate for the People's Democratic Party (PDP), SDP, and Labour Party (LP) for the upcoming 2027 elections. This statement was made on a Friday, highlighting Tinubu's interference in the affairs of opposition parties, despite having already clinched the presidential ticket for the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Alabi expressed concerns regarding the implications of Tinubu's actions on Nigeria's democracy, noting that the Nigerian populace is resistant to what he termed Tinubu's anti-democratic tendencies. He condemned the greed exhibited by Nigerian politicians, emphasizing that citizens continue to suffer from poverty and hardship.

Alabi confirmed that the SDP will contest the presidential election scheduled for January 2027, with the party's primary set to take place on May 9 in Bauchi, Nigeria.
