Baba-Ahmed: Tinubu's Influence May Hinder Opposition Unity

Datti Baba-Ahmed, the former vice-presidential candidate of the Labour Party, stated in an interview with Trust TV that President Bola Tinubu possesses substantial influence over Nigeria's political environment, which could obstruct opposition efforts to unite for the 2027 elections. Baba-Ahmed alleged that Tinubu has the capacity to select candidates within opposition parties and install leadership in those parties.

He emphasized that if Tinubu desires a particular outcome for the 2027 presidential election, only God can prevent it from happening. Baba-Ahmed acknowledged Tinubu's political acumen, noting his 16 years of organizing and building political structures, which included facilitating former President Muhammadu Buhari's return to politics prior to the 2015 elections.

He remarked that while he does not fully agree with Tinubu's methods, he recognizes Tinubu's effectiveness in political organization and alliance-building.
