Benue Government Questions Ortom Over Vehicle Used for Obi

The Benue State Government has called for an explanation from former Governor Dr. Samuel Ortom after a vehicle associated with him was reportedly used to transport Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), during his visit to Makurdi on September 11, 2026. Sir Tersoo Kula, Chief Press Secretary to Governor Hyacinth Alia, raised concerns at a press conference, stating that the vehicle, a Toyota Land Cruiser with registration number GWA 608 BT, was registered in Ortom's name.

Kula indicated that the vehicle's records showed it was registered in Abuja, with details including the chassis number and application date. He accused Ortom of a potential contradiction between his public political statements and private actions, suggesting that he may be influencing politics behind the scenes in Benue State as the 2027 general elections approach.

Kula criticized Ortom's eight-year tenure as governor, labeling it as marked by poor governance and manipulation of political dynamics.
