Labour Party Declines G-100 Summit Participation

The Labour Party (LP), through its National Publicity Secretary Mr. Ken Asogwa, declared its non-participation in the upcoming G-100 summit scheduled for August 31. Asogwa emphasized that the LP is already a coalition, incorporating the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) as integral members.

He stated that the party's structure is well-established across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), allowing it to contest the 2027 general elections as a robust political organization. Asogwa clarified that while the LP is not opposed to coalitions aimed at defeating the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), it prefers to maintain its well-defined structure rather than join an undefined coalition.

He noted that the conveners of the G-100 Summit have not clearly articulated their vision for a unified front against the APC, which is a factor in the LP's decision to abstain from the summit.
