PDP Faction Joins G-100 Coalition for 2027 Elections

A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) led by Tanimu Turaki (SAN) has announced its decision to join the G-100 opposition coalition, motivated by the need to combat Nigeria's escalating poverty, insecurity, and repression. The G-100 coalition consists of 100 opposition political figures aiming to create a broad alliance to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.

The faction, which is distinct from the Abdulrahman Mohammed-led PDP faction loyal to Minister Nyesom Wike, expressed its commitment to collaborate with other credible opposition parties to form a united front against the APC. Turaki emphasized that their participation would depend on the coalition process being transparent and inclusive.

The faction participated in the inaugural G-100 meeting on August 31, indicating its readiness to contribute to a collective political platform. They view this initiative as a response to Nigeria's economic and security challenges, aiming to produce a credible alternative government by 2027.
