SDP Chairman Discusses Leadership Crisis with INEC

Sadiq Umar Abubakar, the chairman of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), disclosed details of a meeting held with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) led by Joash Amupitan. The meeting addressed the ongoing leadership crisis within the SDP and the party's recent national convention in Bauchi State.

Abubakar noted that the SDP is awaiting INEC's decision regarding the suspension of former chairman Shehu Musa Gabam, which was based on a judgment that the party claims was incorrectly relied upon by INEC. Abubakar expressed surprise that the INEC chairman did not acknowledge the suspension correspondence regarding Gabam.

The SDP's National Working Committee (NWC) is currently led by Abubakar, who emerged as chairman during the recent convention. The party is seeking alternative resolutions to its crisis as it navigates these challenges.
