INEC Restores Gombe as SDP National Chairman

Sadiq Abubakar Gombe, the National Chairman of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), addressed journalists in Abuja regarding the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) restoring his name to the party's leadership. He stated that INEC updated its portal to reflect the leadership of the SDP after conducting a thorough review of documents submitted by the party.

This decision was made in accordance with the electoral body's request for details related to the party's disciplinary actions and the appointment of the National Working Committee (NWC) members. Gombe emphasized the importance of following due process to resolve political disputes and urged other political parties in Nigeria to remain committed to legal procedures.

He expressed confidence in the SDP as a credible alternative capable of producing quality leadership for the country, highlighting the party's commitment to due process and patience in resolving issues. The restoration of his name occurred on June 10, 2026, after a week of reloading the portal.
