ADC Official: Obi-Kwankwaso Ticket Can't Defeat APC

Oladimeji Fabiyi, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), expressed skepticism regarding the viability of a joint presidential ticket featuring Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso in the upcoming 2027 elections. Speaking to journalists in Abuja, Fabiyi highlighted that the current political landscape does not favor such an alliance, as the combined voter base of Obi and Kwankwaso from the 2023 elections falls short of what is needed to unseat the current administration.

He referenced electoral data from 2023, which indicated that the combined votes for Obi and Kwankwaso were estimated at 14 to 15 million, while the current president secured around eight million votes. Fabiyi emphasized the necessity of forming a broader coalition to mount a strong challenge against the APC, suggesting that a united front with consensus candidates is essential for success.

He also noted that Atiku Abubakar would support whoever emerges as the consensus candidate, indicating a need for unity among opposition figures.
