Bashir Ahmad Warns Obi, Kwankwaso Over Legal Setbacks

Bashir Ahmad, a former media aide to the president and a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has raised concerns for Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso regarding their political viability. A Federal High Court in Lokoja, Kogi State, ruled on Friday to set aside an earlier judgment that directed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to register the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) as a political party.

This ruling followed an application from the Peace Movement Party (PMP), which sought to have a December 2025 judgment set aside. The court, presided over by Justice Isah Dashen, declared that the NDC was not a relevant party in the matter.

Ahmad stated that both Obi and Kwankwaso currently lack a legally recognized platform to contest in the next elections, emphasizing that they should be worried about their political ambitions given the current legal landscape.
