Yakasai Affirms North's Support for Tinubu's Re-election

Abdullahi Yakasai, Senior Special Assistant to the President, addressed claims regarding the North's withdrawal of support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in an interview on Arise Television on Wednesday. Yakasai dismissed speculation that Tinubu has lost northern support, asserting that the President has strong backing from the North as the country approaches the 2027 general elections.

He noted that Tinubu has taken significant steps to strengthen governance and development at the grassroots level, arguing that the responsibility for citizen welfare falls on state and local governments, not solely on the federal government. Meanwhile, former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose reaffirmed his commitment to the People's Democratic Party (PDP) and pledged to work towards the re-election of Governor Oyebanji in the upcoming gubernatorial election scheduled for June 20, despite remaining a member of the PDP.
