Ireti Kingibe Demands Proof of FCT Loan Approval from Wike

The political confrontation between Senator Ireti Kingibe, representing the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), and FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has escalated. Kingibe responded to Wike's comments, which suggested she would not return to the Senate in 2027, asserting that he cannot determine her political fate or intimidate her regarding the administration's financial practices.

She emphasized her role as a senator to demand accountability and scrutinize public resource usage. Kingibe challenged Wike to provide documentary evidence of Senate approval for loans obtained by the FCT Administration, stating, “I dare the FCT Minister to show the people of the FCT... the Votes and Proceedings of the day the approval was given.” This dispute over the FCT's borrowing began in August when Kingibe raised concerns about loans secured by the administration, which she claimed were not approved by the Senate.
