23 Aspirants Leave ADC in Anambra Amid Leadership Crisis

In Anambra State, 23 aspirants have defected from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) amid a persistent leadership crisis within the party. This mass departure indicates a significant shift as these aspirants, loyal to former Anambra State Governor Uzor, express their intention to join the Obi Nation Democratic Congress (NDC) and the Social Democratic Party (SDP).

The defections were disclosed during a telephone interview in Awka on Tuesday. The ADC's current leadership crisis has raised uncertainties regarding the party's chances in the upcoming 2027 general elections.

The defectors, who are registered members of the ADC, have shown strong indications of resigning from the party, with the situation reflecting broader discontent among members. The ADC has stated that the crisis is not aimed at the party itself but is instead targeting Obi, suggesting internal conflicts that could impact future electoral strategies.
