INEC Confirms 2.3 Million Voters for Osun Guber Poll

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) disclosed that there are 2,339,233 registered voters eligible to participate in the Osun State governorship election set for August 15, 2026. Oluwatoyin Babalola, the Resident Electoral Commissioner for Osun State, made this announcement during the presentation of the electoral register to political parties in Osogbo.

Babalola described this milestone as significant for enhancing transparency and inclusiveness in the electoral process. She explained that the exercise complied with Sections 19 and 20 of the Electoral Act 2026, which mandates INEC to compile and maintain an updated register of voters.

Babalola urged political parties to utilize the register responsibly to deepen voter education and encourage citizen participation. She warned against the misuse of the electoral register, including vote buying and voter intimidation, which undermine the integrity of the electoral process.

Babalola reaffirmed INEC's commitment to conducting free, fair, credible, and inclusive elections in Osun State.
