26 Rescued, Nine Bodies Found in Lagos Building Collapse

In Lagos, rescue operations are underway following the collapse of a three-story shop complex in Alakija, Ori-ade LCDA. As of 12:06 PM, 26 individuals have been rescued alive, and nine bodies have been recovered, including that of a baby girl.

Dr. Olufemi Okosanyintolu, the Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), reported that search and rescue operations are ongoing, with hopes of finding more survivors beneath the debris.

Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu is supervising the efforts, which involve the deployment of sophisticated equipment, including heavy-duty machinery and specialized rescue tools. The operations are being conducted in collaboration with the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, NEMA, and private sector partners.

The rescue teams are committed to continuing their work until every part of the collapsed structure is searched, ensuring that all possible survivors are accounted for.
