Lagos State Arrests 279 Suspects in Crime Crackdown

The Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Agency conducted a significant operation resulting in the arrest of 279 suspects, including 274 males and 5 females, during a crackdown on criminal activities across the state. The operation, which took place late on Sunday, was part of the Lagos State government's sustained efforts to eliminate criminal elements and maintain law and order.

Princ Ifalad Oyekan, the agency's General Manager, disclosed that the operation was intelligence-driven, leveraging the agency's community informants to identify crime hotspots. The suspects were apprehended for various offenses, including theft and public nuisance.

Oyekan emphasized that while every Nigerian has the right to move freely, the state would not tolerate activities that undermine peace and security. The operation also led to the seizure of dangerous weapons and illicit drugs.

The agency plans to continue collaborating with relevant security law enforcement agencies to ensure public safety and warned criminals that they would face the full weight of the law.
